recent events + circumstances have led to a bit of reflection within my family. while my mom was isolated in rehab after a car accident (she flipped the car), and we were processing my dad's tenuous grip on life over the phone, the subject of her three children came up. i asked her if it's fair to say my oldest sister is the "strong" one, and that my other sister (the middle child) is the "perfect" one ... she agreed in general. these are generalizations that have been in place for years in my family's culture. i've never really had such a designation to my knowledge, so I asked her "which 'one' am i?"
she didn't have a quick, easy answer. "you're ..." she thought about it. "you're like ... saint francis of assisi." too kind and not at all specifically accurate, but we were talking generalizations.
so, which "one" does that make me?
